BECON (Bengal Engineering Conclave of Nations) is the flagship Model United Nations conference organised by The Debating Society of IIEST Shibpur brought together delegates from across Kolkata for two days of diplomacy, debate, and high-pressure decision making.
In its very first edition, BECON welcomed over 100 participants across committees, featuring UNGA DISEC and Lok Sabha simulations that challenged delegates to navigate global security, domestic policy, lobbying, alliances, and crisis-driven discourse.
The conference recognised excellence through 20+ awards celebrating diplomacy, research, public speaking, and overall committee performance. Delegations from MUN circuits across Kolkata competed fiercely with the Kolkata MUN Circuit (KMC) securing the Best Delegation award.
Cash prizes of ₹2500, ₹1500, and ₹1500 were awarded to the top delegates in both committees during the results ceremony. With registrations at just ₹500, BECON was designed to make quality MUN participation genuinely accessible without sacrificing rigour.
